The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is getting ready for the start of a new era in space exploration. Today local officials unveiling the Spacecraft Tracking and Astronomical Research into Gigahertz Astrophysical Transient Emission center or STARGATE.
The research center is located right next to SpaceX facilities. It is part of a public-private initiative to serve as a classroom, as well as to encourage private business into space related industries.
One of the private industries already occupying the facility, SpaceX, is said to have plans to work alongside students.
