Valley students take part in taste testing session

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas – Students are getting a taste of what they’re school menus might look like.

Students from all grade levels took part in a taste-testing session. They walked around trying all kinds of different foods. This nutrition expo bringing in more than 130 food vendors to promote their products. But most importantly giving students the chance to evaluate new food items.

Kristina Carrizales, Region One Strategist, “They’ll go from booth to booth and write down the product. The vendor and the product number and then just give us a feedback like a happy thumbs up, or a sad face.”

These taste-testing sessions are designed to help meet students’ needs, while also providing them with healthier school meals.
