Valley lawmakers react to census citizenship question exclusion


RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas — Lawmakers across the country have responded to the Supreme Court’s decision to prohibit the inclusion of a citizenship question in the 2020 census.

Congressmen Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez both applauding the decision. They say an accurate census directly effects funding ever year, and that the citizenship question was meant to suppress the participation of people living in our region.
