MCALLEN, Texas – The city of McAllen announcing their new 311 Customer Service Call Center. The new 311 number replaces the previous seven digit number. City officials say this makes it easier for residents to report issues affecting the community. It even addresses simple issues such as asking about park hours and information on city services.
Xochitl Mora, Director of Communications – City of McAllen, “What is great about that is not that you simply report it, but that call center will actually initiate the work order to process it and get it to the right department much more quickly. Residents can actually follow up on the status of that work order whether it’s a pothole, weedy lot, an abandoned building, traffic light or traffic signal that’s missing or any sort of concern like that.”
McAllen’s call center received over 120,000 calls in the last fiscal year and expect that number to increase by 50 percent.
