Undocumented immigrants nearly drown near Rio Grande

MISSION, Texas – Thursday, October 18, 2019, McAllen agents working near Mission received information of a group of suspected undocumented immigrants travelling north of the Rio Grande.

As agents searched the area, they observed several people attempting to swim across a water-filled canal.

Upon arrival, they encountered undocumented immigrants who advised the agents of two males who nearly drowned. a Border Patrol Agent / Emergency Medical Technician responded to the area after the agents reported that a man lost consciousness while in the canal.

The Salvadoran national was taken by ambulance to a local medical facility.

A Guatemalan national was also transported to a medical facility for precautionary measures.
