Two-vehicle crash leaves several injured and one dead


WESLACO, Texas – Authorities have released details on a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a woman from Mission.

The crash happened Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. on F.M. 510 west of Casey Road in Cameron County.

Texas DPS officials tell Local 23 that the driver of a gold Lincoln Navigator failed to negotiate the curve and lost control of the vehicle, veering into the eastbound lane where it collided head-on with a white Toyota.

This crash claimed the life of 57-year-old Hermelinda Villegas, a passenger in the Toyota.

Both drivers and other passengers in the vehicles were rushed to Valley Baptist Medical Center. They are currently listed in stable condition.
