Trial of man accused in a strangulation death in its third day


EDINBURG, Texas – The trial of a man accused in the strangulation death of his mother’s 61-year-old caregiver is in its third day.

Today several authorities including the lead investigator in the case taking the stand to discuss items found during the investigation. Including items in the defendant’s apartment and items pawned by the defendant the day before he reported the body.

Prosecutors say among the items pawned was a cell phone belonging to the victim. Also surveillance video obtained shows the defendant in the victim’s car even though he says the last time he saw the victim was two days earlier.

Prosecutors also showed two separate interrogations where the defendant changes the time line of events in his story. They add that blood was found in a bedroom and bathroom in the defendant’s apartment.
