Tejano singer, Joe Lopez, launches comeback tour

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – Tejano singer and registered sex offender Joe Lopez is launching a comeback tour amid efforts to legally clear his name.

Local 23 was there when Lopez was released from prison in March 2018.

He served more than 10 years in a segregated cell.

Lopez was convicted of sex crimes against his 13-year-old niece but has maintained his story that he’s innocent.

The former lead singer for “Grupo Mazz” is hoping to relaunch his career with a sold-out concert, a week from Friday in Houston.

Lopez also had to get an “Okay” from the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to perform in Harris County because that’s where the victim lives.
