Stop the bleed campaign

MISSION, Texas – Mission CISD said it is also preparing for the stop the bleed campaign.

A new Texas law is now in effect that requires schools to have a stop the bleed kit.

Mission CISD has been training staff for the past several months to begin teaching junior and high school students how to use it in case of an emergency.

Students will be taught this lesson during health classes.

“So that should they ever find themselves in a situation where they themselves or someone they know or love is in a serious bleeding accident of some sort, they know how to respond,” said Craig Verley, Director of Public Relations/Marketing for Mission CISD.

Mission students are already taught first aid and CPR with AED training, so officials say this will just be an added layer of training that takes first aid to the next level.
