South Texas school districts receive grants to bolster school security

HOUSTON, Texas – The Department of Justice announced the awards today, October 21, 2019, totaling more than $85.3 million.

The grants are designed to educate and train students and faculty as well as support first responders who arrive on the scene of a school shooting or other violent incident.

Among those in the Southern District of Texas that are receiving various grants include the McAllen, Humble, Pasadena, and Mission Consolidated Independent School Districts, Humble ISD Police Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety.
