Smuggler arrested with $36K worth of cocaine


HIDALGO, Texas – Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested an 18-year-old woman from Reynosa after discovering she was attempting to smuggle packages of cocaine from Mexico.

The incident occurred on July 30 after a CBP officer referred a Mexican citizen arriving from Mexico as a pedestrian at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge pedestrian walkway for further inspection. Officers conducting the secondary examination discovered the woman was attempting to conceal two packages of alleged cocaine on her body.

CBP officers arrested the woman and seized the narcotics that weighed 4.67 pounds with a street value of $36,000.
