Religious groups gather to bless McAllen abortion clinic


MCALLEN, Texas – A major twist in the constant battle over abortion rights happening in the Rio Grande Valley. While most Christian groups in the United States are opposed to abortion, one group is embracing the rights for a women to choose.

Religious groups gathering in McAllen to bless the only Texas abortion clinic south of San Antonio. The action demonstrating their support for the right of women to make their own reproductive health care decisions.

The gathering at the Whole Women’s Health Clinic was organized by several Texas religious groups that include Catholics for Choice and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. Most Catholics, including the pope, believe abortion to be a sin against God.

The group who gathered in McAllen claims there is no singular and universal religious message about abortion in the Bible.
