Purple Heart veteran receives home


MCALLEN, Texas – Community members gather for a veteran family in McAllen. Operation Finally Home, H-E-B and local partners dedicate a home to U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Miguel Simental and his family. Corporal Simental is a Purple Heart recipient that served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. There he was injured by an explosive which left him with an amputation and now suffers from various combat related disorders such as PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, amongst a few.

Lee Kirgan, Operation Finally Home, “He signed up to put his life on the line, so that you and I can do what we do every day and enjoy life in a free country. This is something that he earned with his own blood on the battlefield.”

The family received a mortgage-free home that came fully furnished with contributions from the community.
