PHARR, Texas – In an effort to serve the Rio Grande Valley’s emergencies faster, the city of Pharr opens a new dispatch center.
Officials say this facility will lead the way for regional public safety operations in the Valley. They also say the center is the first to implement emergency medical, fire, and police dispatch, through medical priority dispatch systems.
Danny Ramirez, Director of Communications – City of Pharr, “Here everything is going to happen in the same building. We’re going to dispatch all the same resources so that we don’t have that ‘okay we didn’t need that ambulance after all’. Everything is going to be done so those resources can be sent at the same time and or cancelled. We’ll also have the ability to shave seconds if not minutes off.”
The facility will also be monitoring over 400 cameras in the city of Pharr.
