BROWNSVILLE, Texas — Cameron County District Attorney Luis Saenz shared the following information on his Facebook page:
Yesterday, the Rio Grande Valley Child Exploitation Investigations Task Force and the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit arrested a man that was a serious threat to children in the community. Stephen Allen Pichler, 56, a former State of Kansas Police Officer and current Physician Assistant working primarily with children, was arrested for possession and promotion of child pornography. A search warrant executed at Pichler’s home in Harlingen turned up a large quantity of images depicting child erotica and child pornography. The taskforce was concerned that Pichler, now a physician assistant, has a contract to work with unaccompanied minors detained after crossing over into the United States. I want to acknowledge the investigators and members of the taskforce whose work to shut down online child sexual predators prevents potential physical harm and possible victims. Composed of various local, state, and federal agencies, their work continues to produce positive results in their battle against child exploitation with impressive coordinated efforts. If you have a concern about child exploitation please contact the task force at 1-866-347-2423.
