No Refusal Campaign set to crack down on intoxicated drivers

EDINBURG, Texas – Multiple law enforcement agencies, across the Valley are joining forces to crack down intoxicated drivers.

Hidalgo, Willacy and Cameron County District attorneys are set to launch the 5th annual No Refusal Campaign. The goal is to discourage those who have been drinking  from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. Officials say anyone suspected of driving intoxicated and refusing to provide a breath sample will be subject to blood testing at the scene.

Ricardo Rodriguez, District Attorney, “What does that do?, drawing the blood makes our cases stronger when we’re prosecuting these cases. More importantly we’re taking those individuals off the roads. Off the roads that we travel on everyday.”

The campaign will run through the Labor Day weekend beginning Thursday, Aug. 29 through September 2.
