Officers charged after school slap

Two Baltimore City School Police officers seen in a viral video that shows one of them hitting a student are out of jail on bond after being arrested and charged overnight Wednesday.

Anthony Spence, 44, the officer seen hitting the student at REACH Partnership Middle/High School, faces three charges: second-degree child abuse, which is a felony, along with second-degree assault and misconduct in office. The latter two charges are misdemeanors. He is on administrative leave without pay.

The other officer, Saverna Bias, 53, is charged with second-degree assault and misconduct in office. She is on administrative leave with pay.
