Mosquito spraying continues

News

HARLINGEN, Texas — Health officials continue the fight against mosquitos following the June floods. The heavy rains may be long gone, but experts continue to spray larvicide in order to kill pests and their offspring lingering in standing water.

Along with municipal intervention, Harlingen’s vector control team asks that you clear stagnant water on your property in order to help protect yourself and others from mosquitos and their diseases.

Josh Ramirez, Public Health Department, “The mosquitos are hatching and now we’re spraying for adult mosquitos, adulticide. We did one sweep of the entire city already. We’re focusing primarily on the north, north-west and parts of the most affected areas for us.”

If you would like to learn more about your city’s vector control efforts, including request for mosquito spraying, contact your city or county’s public health department.
