Mexico Independence Day celebration


Today, September 16, is Mexico’s Independence Day and President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador marked the occasion on Sunday night with the battle cry known as “El Grito” and the ringing of the Bells of El Zocalo.

The celebration was full of traditional music and dance performances, complete with a fireworks display.

For the first time, the newly created national guard participated in the military parade.

Mexico gained its independence from Spanish rule on September 16, 1810.
