EDINBURG, Texas — A Hidalgo County man with a history of domestic violence was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Thursday.
42-year-old Julio Sanchez Nava was convicted by jury on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member, a first degree felony. Victim Advocate Marlene Ramirez assisted the victim from the date of the offense to the conclusion of the case.
Nava was arrested by Hidalgo County Sheriff’s deputies on December 22, 2016. The case went to trial on July 8 with the jury handing down a guilty verdict on July 11.
Visiting Judge Jose Longoria sentenced Nava to 30 years in the Texas Department of Corrections—Institutional Division.
