Woman’s Body Identified As Guatemalan Immigrant

The body of a Guatemalan Immigrant has been identified as 34 year old Glenda Johona De Leon Molina. According to a media release by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department, Molina was identified by fingerprints 

Molina was found on the southern outskirts of Bentsen State Park on June 24th.  Sheriff Eddie Guerra said in a media release “The autopsy results ruled the cause of death as heat exhaustion.” 

Bentsen State Park, located south of Military Road in rural Mission is a known area for illegal immigration. The trail Molina was found near is closed to the public. 

Her death is one of several in the month of June. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, “agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector recovered three more bodies early this week, migrants who succumbed to the trek into the United States.”

Sunday afternoon, agents in Falfurrias discovered human remains and have not been identified. 

On Tuesday morning, the body of an El Salvadoran national was found in Falfurrias. The Brooks County coroner’s office is in possession of the remains for identification.
