Woman shot multiple times with shotgun, suspect arrested

SAN BENITO, Texas – San Benito Police reports that Weslaco Authorities detained 36-year-old Jose Luis Garcia Jr.

He was wanted in connection to a shooting that took place yesterday at around 8:22 AM near the 300th block of Jay Street in San Benito.

It was there that a collaborative effort between multiple agencies began as they searched for Garcia.

The residence is also the place where police found the weapon used in the incident. 

Police claim that the female victim had been shot with a shotgun several times on her body and once in the face.

In a press release, police claim the victim underwent surgery and is in stable condition in an intensive care unit. 

Garcia was arraigned earlier today. He is expected to receive additional charges when transferred to San Benito.
