Waterline improvement project completed

Local News

A waterline improvement project that started just over a year ago is now complete.

The city of Weslaco partnered with Hidalgo County Precinct 1 to provide better roads and drainage for the mid-valley community. The project consists of new sidewalks, drainage and fresh pavement for a one mile stretch that begins on Border and 18th street. Commissioner A.C. Cuellar says there are more projects to come for the area.

“We’re working on another project, it’s been working for years and it is Mile 6 from the expressway going north. The first phase was up to Mile 9. Hopefully by the end of the year or first part of next year, the construction will start.”

Commissioner Cuellar says this project cost around 3 million dollars.
