Victim’s Son Testifies In Day 7 Of Patterson Trial

A victim’s son takes the stand in his father’s capital murder case out of Hidalgo County.

50-year-old Monica Melissa Patterson is accused in the 2015 killing of a 96-year old veteran for his money. The victim’s son, Martin Knell Jr, took the stand.

He talked about the declining health of his parents. There was a document at the center of discussion in court. It stated that Patterson refused to let Martin Knell Sr visit his wife at the hospice facility she was admitted to.

According to the document, Patterson felt the victim’s mental health issues made him a threat to staff and other patients.
