Veterans Day Commemorated with Silent March

Local News

Veterans Day ceremonies to honor our heroes took place all across the Rio Grande Valley. In Brownsville, Mayor Tony Martinez along with Warriors United in Arms commemorated our service men and women. What began as a silent march, ended with a special ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park. We spoke to a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot.

Bob Cackley, Vietnam War Veteran said, “I think the most important thing is to be proud that you have served your country and give others the opportunity to appreciate you even more.”

The Silent March is a tradition that goes back many years in Brownsville.
