MCALLEN, Texas — McAllen ISD offers Pharmacy Tech as one of many professional licenses or certifications students can earn before they graduate high school. This can save families thousands. For instance, the Pharmacy Program at South Texas Vo Tech runs about $15,000. Others can be as high as $18,000. This might not include textbooks and license and certification fees which McAllen ISD pays for as well. In fact, the District saved families between $315,000 and $378,000 this past year.

McAllen ISD had 21 students earn the Pharmacy Tech certification. This means they can go straight into the work  force and earn more than $25,800 per year at entry-wage level. They can be networking in the field of their choice while continuing with college.
