EDINBURG, Texas — The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is doing well, that is according to university president, Dr. Guy Bailey. A luncheon was held this afternoon by the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce to discuss the state of the university. Dr. Bailey provided an update with what’s happening at the university with its past, present and what’s in store for the future.
Some of the highlights for UTRGV include growth with construction on campus, adding seven new buildings over the last four years. The university’s two-time National Chess Championships and future funding.
“Had a wonderful legislative session. We should be up about $21 or $22 million dollars at the end of this session and so it looks good going forward next year.” said Dr. Bailey.
The addition of more degree plans such as Clinical Psychology will begin in the fall.
