UTRGV implementing program to improve historical understandings of the Rio Grande Valley

EDINBURG, Texas – UTRGV’s B3 Institute is implementing a new program called Historias Americanas. The program is a calloboration with Brownsville ISD and Edinburg CISD. It aims to improve historical understandings of the history, civics, geography, and government of the Rio Grande Valley.

Francisco Guajardo, Executive Director B3 Institute, “The university will work on a professional development initiative to help teachers understand a little more widely how they can look at place, look at student lives, look at their families, their communities as an integral part of how students learn history geography social studies etc.”

The program is being funding by a grant by the U.S. Department of Education and will be implemented over a three year period.
