The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Mexican officials are partnering up to open a student resource center in Matamoros.
The purpose of this center is to give UTRGV students who live in Tamaulipas a place to go to for non-instructional services. That includes financial aid, admissions, registration, enrollment, and recruitment.
The center aims at helping around 600 students who live on the other side of the border.
Patrick Gonzales, Associate Vice President for Marketing says, “We’re just really excited about this project, because it supports our mission for student success. We really feel that having this student center in Matamoros, will not only provide much needed resources to our current students, but also help us recruit future students as well.”
This project is still in the early stages. The next step will be to draft a memorandum of understanding, which will have to go through several approvals.
