U.S. Army Veteran detained by immigration now home with family

PORT ISABEL, Texas – A veteran who for the last three months has been detained by immigration authorities is finally home with his family.

U.S. Army Veteran Edgar Baltazar was surrouded by his family this moring addressing the media. Baltazar, a combat Iraq War veteran and legal resident, was detained nearly 3 months ago after attempting to re-enter the U.S. from Reynosa.

In 2018 Baltazar was convicted of Assault With a Deadly Weapon, given probation and was allowed to travel to Reynosa. He was detained because lawful permanent residents with a felony conviction cannot re-enter the U.S.

Edgar baltazar, “I believe 100 percent in the military, the veterans court and in this great nation. I will continue fighting to stay in the right path.”

Baltzar adds he is thankful to his family and everyone who supported him. He will be pursuing citizenship adding it’s what he deserves after fighting for this country.
