Traffic Stop on SPI Leads to Drug Bust

 On October 5, 2016, at approximately 4:45 a.m. South Padre Island police officers conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle in the area of 3500 Padre Blvd.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle contained multiple packages of illegal narcotics and the male driver was the only occupant. The male subject was detained and taken to the South Padre Island Police Department along with the vehicle.

Federal agents with Homeland Security were contacted and arrived to take custody of the male subject, the illegal narcotics and the vehicle.

Shortly afterwards, Customs and Border Protection agents requested assistance at a local hotel where they impounded two more vehicles, pending further investigation, are possibly related to the original traffic stop. Nothing further at this time.
