Three teenagers from Rio Grande City sit behind bars without any formal charges.
An arraignment is pending into the full investigation into the murder of 17-year-old Chayse Olivares.
The teen’s body was found on Saturday, August 12 in Roma with a gunshot wound.
As public pressure mounts, investigators and prosecutors held a joint press conference.
They gave few details on the identification of the body and a possible motive.
A brief timeline of the crime was given.
Rio Grande City Police Chief Noe Castillo said, “On Saturday, August 12, investigators searched the crime scene in the Roma area locating human remains. On Monday, August 14, an autopsy was performed. That report is still pending. On Tuesday, August 15, the remains were identified belonging to Chayse Olivarez.”
The chief would not give many details of the death of Chayse Olivarez since the case is still under investigation.
He did tell News Center 23 the gunshot might have been the cause of death but the final results are still pending
News Center 23 tried to get the booking photographs of the three teens involved in the crime.
Since they are teenagers our requests have been denied.
That could change as many in the community are pushing they be tried as adults.
At this time the juveniles are in custody without bail.
