Testimony Ends in Taylor Murder Trial

BROWNSVILLE, TX - Frank Alan Taylor III is accused of murder for shooting and killing 32-year-old Byron Pineda at a house party in January 2016.

Trial will continue until Monday morning until the list of charges is presented so that the jury can consider said charges.

On April 26, 2018 Taylor was the last to take the stand. He tells the jury his version of events.

He discussed that he shot Pineda in the back. At times claiming he was doing it to protect his friend during a fight. He said, “I know what I did was wrong…” and claimed he did not meant to kill. During the testimony he states he was trying to suppress Pineda.

Family member gather in anticipation to final verdict. We had a chance to speak to Taylor’s Father. He believes his son is innocent.  Frank Alan Taylor II says, “one says this… the other says this, that should prove that he’s innocent.”

He’s referring to testimony from other witnesses. The other 5 that were part of the party not including Taylor and Pineda.

The defense attorney suggested that witness reports did not match expert reports throughout the week.

We found that the same 5 witnesses did not call 911 as Pineda was dying.

Records show they were arrested for not reporting the felony on the day of the incident, January 20, 2016.

The Trial will resume on Monday Morning at 9:00 in Cameron County District Court 138.
