Talk of Drugs, Intoxication, Urination on Facebook LIVE Land Mission Officer Suspended

Local News

Mission Chief of Police Robert Dominguez confirmed to News Center 23’s Derick Garcia he’s launched an internal investigation into one of his own.

Sergeant Manuel Casas is suspended with pay after a facebook live video came to his attention. In the video, Sgt. Casas is seen wearing dark sunglasses and slurring his speech, at one point shouting “I’m a cop!”. Also, in the video is an unidentified driver flashing a clear bag of what appears to be marijuana. During the 20+ minute live stream the man breaks into an a cappela rap, “I bought me some shoes, drugs I abuse” while flashing the clear bag.

Sgt Casas, a 16 year veteran of the force, rides shotgun throughout the video, at one point in the recording the unidentified drive is seen urinating outside of the vehicle. A live viewer commented “Missions finest embarrassment”

At the 19:24 mark in the video the unidentified driver shouts “F’ the Police!” while a police unit is in driving in front of them.

Chief Dominguez said the Mission Police Department is “following civil service law in addressing the case and affording the city of Mission employee due process.”
