Suspected New Year’s Eve Armed Robber Arraigned

After Weslaco Police make an arrest in a New Years Eve armed robbery case, the suspect is arraigned this morning. Francisco Moreno was arraigned in a Weslaco courtroom. Police say Moreno walked into a Tejano Mart on New Years Eve, robbing a cashier, and flashing a gun; which police later recovered on Moreno. He then fled on foot.

It was a Crime Stoppers tip which led police to the suspect.

Officer Eric Hernandez, Weslaco Police PIO, “That’s how important it is when the community works with the police department. We were able to locate this individual based on the community’s help. We want to just reach out to them and let them know, thank you and if you have any information regarding this or any other crime to contact Weslaco Crime Stoppers at 968-TIPS (8477).”

Francisco Moreno was charged with Aggravated Robbery, drug charges and Unlawful Possession of a Fire Arm by a Felon. He was given bonds totaling $285,000.
