Survey Says Public Views Port of Brownsville Favorably

BROWNSVILLE, Texas - The only deepwater port located on the U.S. Mexico border completed its first public opinion survey of tenants, stakeholders and other service personal.

According to the survey, 95% of surveyors view the port favorably, and 57% plan to increase their business with the port.

“We are essentially are a land lord port so a lot of the activity at the port is generated by the port tenants and the customers of the port,” said Port Director Eduardo Campirano.

“It’s a fantastic location we find it’s very strategic especially with Mexico around the corner and at the same time it’s a day and a half shorter voyage for ships that come in versus New Orleans or Houston,” said Amit Bhandari, West Plains CEO, a company that does business with the port.

Campirano also shared that the newly signed U.S. Mexico-Canada Agreement will create a favorable business landscape which will support job creation.
