Students to Receive Backpacks full of School Supplies

Local News

2,000 lucky Mission CISD students will receive backpacks full of school supplies needed for this upcoming school year. More than 100 volunteers showed up at Mission Junior High School. The goal is to stuff backpacks with all the proper supplies students will need to start off the school year.

The backpacks and school supplies are the result of sponsorships and donations from local businesses and communities. Backpacks will be given out on a first come first served basis on Friday evening during the Back to School Bash event. They are limited to registered Mission CISD students.

Craig Verley with the Mission CISD says, “This really is a good example of how our community of students can come together to support each other. Because the students that are here know that what they’re doing is going to benefit 2,000 other students in the school district, who perhaps aren’t as well off as they are.”

The Back to School Bash will be this Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Veterans Memorial High School Gym.
