It’s a common trend across the country and in the Rio Grande Valley several cities have or will deliver their State of the City Address in the upcoming days.
Today the South Padre Island mayor delivering his annual report. He summarized it as “significant improvement.” From new sidewalks to stable economic growth the cities report card showing a positive outlook for 2018.
Mayor Dennis Stahl says, “We made significant improvements, we have the 11 miles of new sidewalk, we also have the multi modal center, we’ve done a lot of work on our beaches, and we’ve also had a very, very safe spring break.”
Within the upcoming year the city will continue looking at the paid parking initiative and will continue to pursue the idea of making the destination city into a ‘port of call’ for cruise line ships.
