Spring Break 2019 preliminary report released

Local 23 news is the first to obtain the preliminary statistics from the City of South Padre Island.

The month of March is one of the busiest seasons in South Padre Island for Spring Break and each year, many residents wonder if Spring Breakers are getting out of control.

As we take a closer look at the preliminary report, we find there is a slight increase of all fields when compared to 2018 figures. Here is a quick summary of the figures presented by the City of South Padre Island.

– Nearly 300 more calls for service

– Over 150 more arrests

– 168 more incidents reported to police

– And 18 more accidents.

Official results are expected in the upcoming weeks during the annual Spring Break report.
