Special Education to See Increase In Funding

Local News

Texas is investing millions of dollars for students receiving special education services, especially for those who receive services in regular classrooms.

The money comes from the Legislature’s main school finance measure, House Bill 3, which would require districts to spend more on students with dyslexia or related learning disabilities. School districts can also use some money to contract with a private provider for extra services for students.

Also included in the budget, is millions of dollars going towards paying a penalty for violating a law prohibiting states from reducing funding for kids with disabilities, as well as making up services for students who were denied in the past.
