Shelter for transgender migrants

Local News

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – A new shelter has opened its doors to migrants who say they’ve faced discrimination and abuse while being cared for at Juarez shelters across the border from El Paso.

Respetttrans Chihuahua caters to the transgender community, giving migrants a safe place to stay while they await asylum into the U.S.

It was created by a transgender woman who says migrants are welcome to live there until they’re able to claim asylum in the U.S.
