A man is sentenced to prison for trafficking enough narcotics that could kill nearly 6 million people.
57-year-old Jeffrey Layne Parker will serve a total of 14 years in a federal prison for attempting to transport different drugs across a checkpoint near Laredo. They included heroin, marijuana and fentanyl.
Fentanyl is 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. Just a small amount can literally kill a person.
The U.S. Appellate judge also ordered Parker to serve five years’ probation following his prison time.
