Red Carpet Event for AV Students

Local News

Local high school students are being recognized for producing their own commercial at their very own red-carpet event. Students in the Audio and Video Production classes with the Brownsville Independent School District were challenged to create a commercial.

Through that commercial, they had to highlight the many industry certifications that Career and Technical Education offers.

Martha Gonzalez, CTE Coordinator, “The kids did the whole red-carpet thing. To give them an idea of what it would be like to be a director or producer or their own celebrity VIP event, a red-carpet day for them. That was the idea or the vision behind this. To give the kids a feeling of what bright and spectacular future they can have if they continue to pursue a career in audio and video production.”

School officials say the purpose of the film awards is to allow students to be the VIP’s at their own red-carpet event with teachers and other district personnel as the paparazzi. 58 BISD students took part in the event. The winners’ commercial will be airing in all 16 theaters for at least one month.
