Primera police warn of money scam

Local News

PRIMERA, Texas – The Primera Police Department is warning people about a scam targeting the elderly community.

Keep your eye out for a letter from the ‘Publisher’s Clearing House’ that states the recipient has won $450,000.

Officials say this is a fake letter. Included with the letter is a check for $7,600 with a contact number indicating the next steps to claim the money.

The Primera police chief says if you receive a letter like this one, contact local law enforcement first instead of trying to cash the check.
