Port of Brownsville invests over $46 million for 2019

Local News

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – 2019 has been a busy year for the Port of Brownsville.

According to recent numbers, the agency spent over $46 million in capital improvements. From upgrades to cargo docks, to bettering the roads, the Brownsville facility continues with more projects in the works. Port staff say the self-investments are a good sign of business growing in Brownsville.

Eduardo Campirano, Port Director, “If you cannot provide the services of the facilities that the businesses demand or require, whether they’re existing or new, they’re going to find other opportunities or they’re going to go elsewhere where those facilities exist. For us it’s a matter of keeping up.”

Campirano says that this year’s investment figures were similar to that spent on previous years. They’re meant to support existing business and traffic at the port.
