Police to Clamp Vehicles with Outstanding Parking Citations

Local News

This week the Brownsville Police Department will start enforcing a ‘clampdown’ on vehicles with unpaid parking tickets.

The initiative is said to have started due to high amounts of outstanding parking violations.

Patrol is said to begin in the downtown areas. This ordinance is citywide.

If your vehicle is not properly parked,  law enforcement will place a vehicle clamp, also known as ‘the boot,’ on one of your tires.

This only applies to vehicles with outstanding citations and not on the first ticket.

This ordinance applies even if you borrow a vehicle.

Individuals are not targeted during this initiative. Those with speeding tickets or any other citation may not be affected. This ordinance is said to be for vehicles with a history of unpaid parking tickets.

Brownsville PD has not disclosed the amount of outstanding traffic tickets.
