PHARR, Texas – Officials with the Pharr International Bridge are celebrating the groundbreaking of a long awaited expansion. The administration building will receive an expansion of 3,000 square feet. The improvements will include more office spaces, conference rooms, and new technology upgrades including a moderized toll booth area.
Officials say the improvements are needed to address growth and keep up with demand.
Luis Bazan, Bridge Director, “Every year we see a steady uptick in growth. As a matter of fact for 2018 we registered up to 9 percent growth in imports and about 7 to 8 in exports. Right now we’re averaging about 5 to 6 percent in imports and 4 to 5 percent in exports.”
Officials say the expansion has taken years of planning and will allow them to better serve customers.
