Personnel changes expected on Edinburg City Council

EDINBURG, Texas – The Edinburg City Manager has resigned and at tonight’s city council meeting, there are expected to be some city employees dismissed.

The Edinburg City Council will hold their first meeting since the November elections. Newly elected City Councilman David White is expected to be sworn into office. The council will then get to work on the agenda and discussions regarding the employment of several city employees and some temporary municipal judges. The city secretary as well as appointments being made to the Economic Development Corporation Board and the appointment of municipal court clerk.

The discussion of these city positions comes on the heels of the resignation of City Manager Juan Guerra. Sources tell Local 23 News, with David White taking a seat on the city council tonight, there will be a shift in power on how the council will vote and that is why these items are now on the agenda.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. Local 23’s Mike Jimenez will bring the latest developments at 10:00 p.m.
