Pelosi Joins Cuellar In Discussing Border Issues

Local News

Pelosi and Cuellar discussed border issues impacting our region at Texas A&M International University in Laredo. They discussed legislative priorities, trade, border security, and immigration.

The speaker of the house also addressed the importance of leading more women to the capitol.

“So, I say to the young women, all the women, I didn’t come in as young. I had five kids and four of them were in college when I went to Congress. In my 40’s I went to Congress. But what we’re trying to do is make sure many more women come sooner so that the other young women out there see the path themselves.” Said Pelosi.

Pelosi also says the house of representatives will vote next week to block President Trump’s national emergency, after the president said last week the declaration is needed to secure funding for a wall on the U.S./Mexico border.

The house resolution to block that declaration is speeding its way through Congress.
