Payne Auto Group City Clash: Sharyland vs. Rio Grande City

The regular season of high school football is now over.

On week 11, there was many anticipated matchups including our City Clash between Sharyland and Rio Grande City.

On week 11 of high school football, the Rattlers met the Rattlers. Sharyland High School and Rio Grande City High School athletes went all out in the anticipated matchup. But despite every play, tackle, and score both teams came up on top. That is because News Center 23 and Payne Auto Group donated $1,000 dollars to each school.

Payne Auto Group, “We’re going to give each school, each one of the schools Sharyland High School and Rio Grande City High School a check for $1,000 each for their General Scholarship Program.

The funds could help out a lucky student. Each school has a way selecting who receives the funds. overall $1,000 could go a long way.

One Principal said, “As you know college tuition is extremely expensive. this will probably get them at least a set of book for one semester. For the students it means a lot.”

The money can be used however the students want. From gas money to books, the students decide.

Another Principal added, “We have a lot of kids that have high aspirations to go to college and continue their education. this money is always helpful and beneficial to our students.”  

The final score is 35-19 in favor of Sharyland.

Rio Grande City high school ended their season with 4 wins and 4 losses.

The Sharyland Rattlers will have their first playoff game in Mercedes this Friday.
